An Intersection of Muralists
Close up from mural by Esther Gamez Rubio
About the Project
Each artist designed and painted a 8' x 12' mural on an interior gallery wall. Artists reflected on the neighborhood of Barrio Logan and its cultural significance, having many historically valuable murals painted during the Chicano movement in the late 1960s/70s and beyond, which is marked physically by nearby Chicano Park. As the mural and street art movement continues to develop within Barrio Logan, the neighborhood has experienced a lot of development, popularity, and change. Artists created their murals with that in mind, sharing their vision of past, present, and future, with new and traditional techniques alike.
